    The subsidiary of a major industrial group is entering a critical phase that calls for tight, hands-on leadership. Issues around performance, productivity, profitability, and the workplace climate have recently emerged.

    At the same time, Group Management aims to strengthen reporting requirements, ensure impeccable production quality, and better align resources with operational needs.

    In this high-pressure context, a Transition Manager has been appointed to take over the subsidiary’s end-to-end leadership, stabilize operations, and restore a sustainable performance trajectory. They will step in on a handover assignment.

    Key Objectives of the Assignment

    This context calls for several major objectives.
    1. Overall management of the subsidiary with full P&L ownership and operational profitability
    2. Stabilization of the organization by taking charge of technical and administrative dimensions
    3. Restoration of a healthy social climate and constructive dialogue with employee representative bodies
    4. Assurance of project quality and the productivity of operational teams

    Roles and Key Responsibilities

    The Transition Manager assumes operational leadership of the subsidiary, steering performance, resources, technical operations, and labor relations.
    • Operational LeadershipImmediate takeover of the organization and teams, with hands-on managerial leadership alongside department heads
    • Performance ManagementMonitoring and optimization of the P&L, variance analysis, and deployment of targeted action plans to restore profitability
    • Technical SupervisionCoordination with engineering/design offices to ensure project quality and on-time delivery
    • Resource Management Headcount decisions, strengthening of critical capabilities, and planning/optimization of capital investments (CAPEX)
    • Strategic ReportingDevelopment of relevant dashboards, with clear and regular reporting to Group HQ for consolidated governance

    Conclusion of the Assignment

    In this context, the Transition Manager acts as a true “conductor,” with a dual mandate: turning around the subsidiary’s financial performance while strengthening social and managerial cohesion. Leveraging cross-industry experience and a hands-on, operations-focused approach, they enable Group Management to de-risk a critical phase, consolidate the subsidiary’s foundations, and ultimately prepare a sustainable handover to a permanent Managing Director or a new cycle of growth.
